The Echad l’Echad Foundation supports needy families as well as
families of avreichim (men devoted to full time Torah study)
throughout the spectrum of the religious Zionist yeshivot in Israel.
This support was Echad l’Echad’s first project, beginning back in
2009. The support is provided to thousands of avreichim twice a year
and is not only financial help, rather it is a warm hug from the
community at large to those dedicated to Torah learning, for their
toil is for the sake of all of us.
Who receives our support?
Our support is very expansive and includes all of the different
types of avreichim within the religious Zionist spectrum.
Are there specific yeshivot in which the foundation decided not
to support?
No. From our perspective, all of the religious Zionist
yeshivot are supported by Echad l’Echad. There are a handful of
yeshivot who don’t want our assistance. For the full list of
yeshivot receiving our support please check: “Who we support”.
Are there some yeshivot which receive more financial support than
others?
Yes. Echad l’Echad permits donors to decide, if they would
like, to designate their donation to avreichim from a particular
yeshiva. The money is distributed according to the amount in which
each yeshiva has.
What are the criteria in order to receive support?
As opposed to the support given to “top” avreichim in which
the criteria there is excellence and learning potential, in this
project, the criteria is based on level of need and financial
stability of the one requesting the support.
What is the process in order to receive support?
After an avreich submits a request the request is checked
thoroughly first by his Rosh Yeshiva, after which by representatives
of Echad l’Echad and finally by Rav Yitzchak Neriya, head of the
foundation. The amount of support is granted according to the level
of need of the avreich.
How much money is granted to avreichim?
Each avreich that submits a request receives a stipend before
Rosh Hashana and before Pesach in which the amount varies between
1,000 to 3,000 shekel according to his financial need as well as the
amount of donations received by the foundation.
Is there any involvement on the part of the Roshei Yeshivot with
the support granted to each family?
Yes. The Roshei Yeshivot approve the avreichim’s requests and
in many cases give recommendations and requests to the foundation’s
representatives.
We hope that the financial support we provide will lighten the
financial burden in which the religious Zionist avreichim face and
will sweeten and enhance their upcoming holidays.
We turn to all of us with an earnest request:
Come and partner
with a fund that supports religious Zionist hand-picked outstanding
students and their families.
